Footprints Children's Grief Center

Our Footprints Children’s Grief Center has been helping children and teens since 1993, and in 2009 joined with Judi’s House to offer a full circle of programs where children and teens find a safe place to express their feelings, find acceptance, healing and hope.

When it comes to expressing grief, sometimes kids just need to be kids . . . and Denver has two programs that work together in our non-profit community to best serve the needs of all children and their families.

INDIVIDUAL AND FAMILY GRIEF COUNSELING

Our Footprints Children’s Grief Center specializes in helping children and families with anticipatory grief while a loved one is ill.  We also offer individual and family counseling to those dealing with grief following a death.

Footprints grief counselors collaborate with our hospice patient-care teams to determine  when a child might benefit from Anticipatory Grief Counseling such as one-on-one therapy, art or play therapy.  Anticipatory grief counseling takes place in our center, 501 S. Cherry St., in Denver, designed for children or in the child’s home – wherever a family feels most comfortable.

SUPPORT GROUPS

Judi’s House specializes in offering grief support groups to children ages 3- to 18-years-old and their families.  As a peer support program, Judi’s House, 1741 Gaylord St. in Denver, is designed to feel like a home where children can share their emotions with other bereaved children.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

Footprints and Judi’s House work together offering educational programs and consultations to schools on how children and teens grieve and what helps.  Speakers are available to talk to civic, church and other groups on children’s grief issues.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

…with your time
People are such an important link to everything we do at The Denver Hospice. A variety of volunteer opportunities are available that involve helping for an hour, an afternoon, or on an ongoing basis. Opportunities to help are available in administrative support, at special events and fundraisers.

…with your dollars
As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, Footprints relies on the generosity of family members, foundations and other donors, to continue its mission. Your donations are always appreciated.
