The season of grief can feel especially lonely for children. That’s why children and teens come to the Footprints Children’s Grief Center. Part of The Denver Hospice, Footprints has been helping children and teens since 1993. Footprints Children’s Grief Center provides a safe space to express all the thoughts and feelings that come with grief. At Footprints, children and teens find acceptance, healing, growth, and the discovery of inner strength that was there all along.
When it comes to expressing grief, sometimes kids just need to be kids. That’s why Footprints support groups are held in an environment where children and teens can do what comes naturally to them. Whether it’s creating art, putting on a puppet show, or rough housing in our “volcano room,” everyone has a creative space to express their grief in a way that feels most comfortable for them.

There is no set fee for the services provided by Footprints but there are suggested donations. No family is ever denied services because they are unable to make a financial contribution.
Every child is different. For some, listening to other children express their grief can be a great way to find their own understanding. For others, a one-on-one setting feels more comfortable. That’s why Footprints offers individual and family counseling sessions. These private sessions are facilitated by highly skilled counselors, and are a wonderful alternative – or addition to – a support group.
