GIFTS OF ALL SHAPES AND SIZES

The two questions we hear most when it comes to making a gift are, “what should I give and how should I give it?” Gift planning is an art, and relies on good financial, estate, and tax planning, in order to maximize what you are able to give, while getting the best tax and financial rewards possible. That’s why it’s a good idea to talk with your financial planner to figure out what makes the best sense for you. All gifts are tax deductible to the extent allowable by law. Some are even eligible for matching contributions from your employer. But know that whatever you give, it makes a difference.

ONLINE DONATIONS – Log on and make a donation right from your desktop. Our secure server makes it easy and convenient to support The Denver Hospice.

MEMORIAL OR "IN HONOR OF" GIFTS – If you have lost a loved one, you may find special comfort in giving to the circle at The Denver Hospice. In fact, many families specify a gift to The Denver Hospice in lieu of flowers. Family members also give “in honor of” gifts to The Denver Hospice throughout the year to commemorate a birthday, anniversary, or other special occasion.

LIFE INSURANCE AS A GIFT – You may not know it, but you have the option to name The Denver Hospice as a primary or secondary beneficiary on your life insurance policy, or donate an old policy that you no longer need. The tax benefits you receive from this are excellent.

BANK ACCOUNTS – Money from checking accounts, savings accounts, certificates of deposit and other financial accounts can be made payable to The Denver Hospice upon your death.

STOCKS, MUTUAL FUNDS OR REAL PROPERTY – Great news! When you give securities, there is no capital gains tax. Not only can you deduct the original cost, but also any “paper profit” in your gift. You get the same advantages for real estate, mutual funds, and other types of property.

GIVE THE DENVER HOSPICE A LIFT, DONATE A CAR – If you have an old car, truck, motorcycle or boat in your garage taking up space, put it to good use – and get a great tax write-off in the process. Our vehicle donation program is set up so that all you have to do is give us the green light and we’ll pick up the car and pay for the tow. Your contribution will go a long way in helping patients and families who need hospice care.

SPECIAL EVENT SPONSORSHIP – There are opportunities for companies and community groups to become involved in one of our events as a partner or sponsor. Many find this type of involvement rewarding and motivating.

GIFT OF TIME – In addition to financial support, donating your time, talent and expertise as a hospice volunteer can be infinitely rewarding. Whatever your skills or interests, there are many opportunities to find your place inside the circle.
