The Denver Hospice

For over three decades, more than 60,000 patients and their family members have turned to us for care and comfort during difficult times.
As Colorado’s leader in hospice and palliative care we are committed to caring for everyone who comes through our door wherever they call home.
The Denver Hospice cares for the elderly at the end of their long, rich lives, those struck far too young by advanced illness, offers comfort to those who choose to battle their life-limiting illness, offers comfort and grief counseling to families and friends.

The Conversation Project

We tend to plan for big events in our lives, but often do not plan the last chapter of our lives. Colorado Access Regional Care Collaborative Organization (RCCO) partnered with The Denver Hospice/Optio Health Services and Life Quality Institute (LQI) on May 15, 2014 to conduct an one hour webinar on The Conversation Project Starter Kit. This kit is a tool you can use when you have end-of-life planning conversations with your patients.

Circle of Life Award

The Denver Hospice and Optio Health Services has won the Circle of Life Award - a national award presented by the American Hospital Association.

Rocky Mountain PBS documentary - Living with Dying

This locally-produced documentary features patients and families of The Denver Hospice facing end-of-life decisions.

You will be touched and even smile as our patients and families graciously tell their unique stories – not with fear and trepidation but with feelings of peace and gratitude. Rocky Mountain PBS producer Lisa Olken and our patients teach valuable lessons about the process of aging and living well until the final breath.

The documentary - narrated by local broadcast veteran Ed Sardella - also
offers strategies for creating an end-of-life experience that honors each person’s last wishes. I hope you’ll tune in on July 5 to the rebroadcast of this important work by Rocky Mountain PBS.
